Crochet Christmas Wreath Free Pattern

Fact: everything is cuter when you add a face to it. This isn’t your traditional crochet christmas wreath free pattern, but it just might be the cutest! It can be used as decor (it would make a festive addition to a child’s bedroom door) or as a toy. There is a wire ring inside to help shape it but it is still very soft and squishy – perfect for snuggling!

I’d love to see your versions of the Kawaii Wreath Cuddler crochet christmas wreath, so if you make this free pattern be sure you tag me! @nineinspired on IG & Tiktok and @nineinspiredblog on Pinterest and Facebook

Notes

Pixie Dust is discontinued. The Just Chenille is a good substitute.

Wreath

The wreath is worked with the green yarn held doubled. There are 2 ways to do this. Option 1: cake the yarn and pull from the inside and outside at the same time. Option 2: roll the yarn into 2 balls and pull from both balls at the same time.

With green yarn held doubled, make a chain long enough to go all the way around your ring.

Row 1: ch 1, sc in the 2nd ch from the hook and in each ch across, turn.

Row 2: ch 1, *sc in the next 2 sts, bobble in the next st, repeat from * across, turn.

Row 3: ch 1, sc in each st across, turn.

Row 4: ch 1, sc in the first st, *bobble in the next st, sc in the next 2 sts, repeat from * across, turn.

Row 5: ch 1, sc in each st across, turn.

Row 6: ch 1, *sc in the next 2 sts, bobble in the next st, repeat from * across, turn.

Row 7: ch 1, sc in each st across.

To make a wider wreath: repeat rows 4-7 until you reach the desired width.

Continue without fastening off.

Lay the piece out with the smooth side facing up towards you and the bobble side facing down. Lay the wire ring on top. Fold the piece around the wire ring as shown and begin to join the long edges of the piece together by slip stitching through both layers. Add stuffing as you continue to slip stitch around the entire piece. If you would like to use safety eyes I would add them when you are about halfway through. When you get to the very end, fasten off and then use your yarn tail to sew the short sides of the wreath together.

Bow

With pink yarn held doubled, ch 30. Fasten off. Tie into a bow and sew onto the wreath.

Legs (Make 2)

With brown, magic circle

Round 1: ch 1, sc 6 in the magic circle. (6)

Round 2: 2 sc in each st around. (12)

Round 3: decrease* 6 times. (6)

*Note: Here’s how: insert hook into next st and pull up a loop, insert hook into the next st after the first one and pull up another loop, yarn over and pull through all 3 loops on hook.

Rounds 4-8: sc in each st around (6)

Stuff just the balls at the ends of the arms and legs. Leave the tubes hollow.

Fasten off, and weave in ends. Sew them onto the wreath with about 3 inches in between them opposite the bow.

Finishing

I used ¾ inch black felt circles to make the eyes and mouth. I added 2 dots of white fabric paint on each of 2 circles to create highlights for the eyes and then I let them dry overnight. To create the mouth, I cut a circle in half. Then I used hot glue to affix the eyes and mouth onto the wreath.
