Hello from my little corner of the internet! I’m trying something new today. I made a handmade card inspired by Harry Potter for my friend Natalie’s birthday. This card combines two of my favorite things – crochet and graphic design.
I made the crochet lightning bolt using this pattern from the lovely and talented Rachel of Crochet Spot. I designed the card myself in Canva and I made sure to include all my favorite HP things – Harry’s glasses, the sorting hat, Hedwig the snowy owl, a broom, and a magic wand! What do you think?
I attached the lightning bolt to the card using Mod Podge. When I pushed down on the applique, some of the glue came up through the little holes in the stitches. That’s ok though, because Mod Podge dries clear. If you are using a glue that doesn’t dry clear then I recommend using it sparingly and not pushing down too firmly on your lightning bolt.
You can get the free printable for yourself HERE. Or you can customize your handmade greeting card in Canva using this TEMPLATE (No permissions needed, just select the option “Use template for new design”). Change the colors to match the Birthday person’s faves or add a typed greeting if your handwriting is terrible (like mine lol). I recommend printing it out on cardstock. You need a nice sturdy piece of paper to hold the extra weight of the yarn and glue.
