DIY Easter Craft – Easter Egg Beehive Succulent Planters

If you have a kid or two (or more) underfoot, then you probably have a few Easter eggs lying around. Put them to good use and make a fun DIY Easter craft with me! You are going to love these adorable little succulent planters. They make great patio decor and they would also look right at home on a tiered tray with an Easter theme, a spring theme, or a bee theme.

This craft was inspired by the Easter Egg Flower Pot craft over on Made with Happy and the wine glass Beehive Candle Holder from Ruffles & Rainboots. It’s a DIY Easter craft mash-up! What do you think?

Step 1

Peel three hexagon tiles off the mesh backing and pop out the middle bits. You’re going to glue the three hexagon tiles together with the gorilla glue or E6000. Then take the middle bits and glue those on the outside in between each pair of hexagons.

Step 2

Cut the little attachment piece to separate the top and bottom of the easter egg. Use hot glue to wrap the jute twine around the top part of the easter egg. Start from the bottom and alternate between applying a line of glue and wrapping the twine until you get all the way up to the top.

Step 3

Wrap the jute around the bottle cap and cut it so that you have just enough twine for the ends to meet. Use the bottle cap as a guide to help you glue the jute onto the beehive in a circle. Cut another little bit of twine, tie it in a bow and glue it where the two ends of the circle meet to help hide the join.

Step 4

Paint the inside of the circle with the black paint.

Step 5

Hot glue the bottom of the easter egg to the top of the easter egg. Then use the hot glue to add a drip to the lip of the bottom part of the egg and to the bottom edge of the jute circle.

Step 6

Use the metallic gold paint for the upper edge of the bottom part of the egg, for the hot glue drips, and for the edges of the hexagon tiles.

Step 7

Now it’s ready for the plant! Just add a little dirt to the bottom part of the egg, nestle the plant inside, and then pack in a little bit more dirt around it. And that’s it, you’re done!
